The $199.99 bundle includes a 128GB V30 card, which FREEXAR says is rated for around 1,800 write cycles and intended for continuous loop recording. Loop recording automatically overwrites the oldest footage when the card is full; locked files are protected from that overwrite. Built-in GPS logs speed, time, and location alongside the video, which FREEXAR says can help with roadside assistance and insurance claims. There are three ways to lock a clip: G-Sensor Lock on a detected collision, voice control with 'Lock the video', and One-Press Lock for a sudden event.
For night driving, FREEXAR specifies Super Night Vision 2.0, an F1.8 aperture, a 6-layer optical glass lens, WDR to reduce glare, and eight infrared lights that automatically enhance visibility in poor lighting. For parked cars, Impact Detection Mode locks footage when a collision is detected, and Time-Lapse Mode records at a lower frame rate to use less storage for longer parking coverage. The important caveat: 24H parking monitoring requires the FREEXAR hardwire kit (ASIN B0FYN1813J), which is not included. FREEXAR says the kit powers the camera when the car is off, activates parking monitoring mode, and protects the battery from draining.
Through built-in 5.8GHz Wi-Fi, the free app can show live footage, review recorded drives, adjust settings, and download videos at speeds up to 8MB/s. Core app functions are free, and VIP activation is not required. FREEXAR recommends using the original FREEXAR car charger and cable for a steady 5V/2A output, which it says helps prevent restarts or unexpected behavior. If a vehicle lacks a traditional cigarette lighter socket or the rear camera cable is not long enough, support is available to help find the right setup.
The box includes the D4 dash cam, rear camera, car charger, 12 ft USB-C power cable, 20 ft rear cam extension cable, 128GB SD card, user manual, quick start guide, warranty card, notice sticker, two electrostatic films, trim tool, five cable clips, two 3M adhesive pads, and a dust-free cloth. The 3M adhesive mount has a detachable locking interface, so the mount stays on the windshield and the camera can be removed in seconds. During installation, FREEXAR warns that the camera and wiring must not interfere with airbag deployment. The D4 is backed by a 24-month warranty and lifetime technical support and is listed for operating temperatures from -10°C to +60°C.
Who it suits: At $199.99, the D4 makes the most sense for a driver who wants front, rear, side, and cabin coverage from one system and values GPS logging and app-based review. If you need parking monitoring, budget for the separate hardwire kit. Judge the D4 on the coverage you need and the 4K-front/1080P-secondary-channel split, not on unsupported performance or comparison claims.
